Asphalt Applications

Asphalt Emulsions

Gilsonite Pave Seal

2112 provides a black pavement sealer composed of hard gilsonite asphalt resin in solution in relatively fast dying solvents. It adds asphalt resins to aging blacktop as well as sealing and protecting the pavement against the effects of weathering. Gilsonite Pave Seal is the easiest of the pavement sealers to apply and it gives a deep, black finish with a bit of sheen. Unlike water base sealers, it will not be damaged by freezing weather nor will it wash off if caught by a rain shower before completely dry.



Insulmastic 7101 Waterproofing Emulsion

This non-fibred asphalt coating is a water-based mineral colloid with smooth thick-cream consistency and is odorless. It has excellent adhesion to both damp and dry surfaces and forms a flexible waterproof coating. It is used as a waterproofing compound in membrane systems to control hydro-static pressure. It may also be applied as a simple coating for damp proofing concrete and masonry. Ideal for foundation walls, footings, split slab floors, retaining walls, dams, reservoirs bridge deck and for sealing cuts after tree pruning.

Rapid Set Products

Rapid Set® Cement (special order) is a very fast setting hydraulic cement for concrete and cement repair applications requiring the highest durability and fastest strength gain. It may be mixed with a wide variety of aggregates to produce customized one-hour strength concrete or mortar mixtures.


The high-strength, low-shrinkage, and superior durability properties of Rapid Set® Cement lead to unparalleled concrete performance on diverse projects including highways, bridges, runways, sidewalks, and floors. For larger projects, Rapid Set® Cement mixtures may be batched using conventional ready mix or volumetric mixer equipment.


Rapid Set® DOT Cement (special order) is ideal for the repair of pavement, bridge decks, industrial floors, parking garage decks, freezer floors and vertical & overhead repairs. DOT Cement a highly durable calcium sulfoaluminate based hydraulic cement with exceptional workability characteristics. This cement is formulated for long life in freeze thaw regions.


Rapid Set® DOT Repair Mix (special order) is ideal for the repair of concrete pavements, bridge decks, industrial floors, parking garage, freezer floors. DOT Repair Mix is a rich blend of specialty sand, Rapid Set® Cement and additives for improved durability. When mixed with water the formulation produces a very fast setting, high quality concrete repair material that is extremely durable in harsh environments.

Crafco GeoTac is a peel-and-stick waterproofing membrane designed specifically as a moisture barrier. It prevents water permeation or penetration through pavement surfaces and subsequent damage that moisture causes. GeoTac is high caliber with fully modified SBS asphalt mastic applied to a non-woven polyester geotextile.

Propex Petrotac®

Petrotac® is a factory pre-coated version of the Petromat interlayer system manufactured in strip form for the treatment of local pavement distress such as over joints, cracks, and potholes. Petrotac® has a rubberized asphalt coating with a tackifier allowing the simple peel and stick hand application.


Petrotac® is thicker than the Petromat system allowing it to absorb more stress, making it more appropriate over slightly active joints and cracks. The factory applied rubberized asphalt coating forms a continuous moisture barrier and therefore Petrotac® is approved in many states as a bridge deck waterproofing membrane. However, wide area waterproofing is not achieved if only random strips of Petrotac are used such as when strip treating a joint pattern.



Sealants

Crafco 271 & 272 Loop Detector Sealant (special order) is a single component, hot melt, rubberized asphalt material which is formulated to be a stiff, yet flexible, sealant which is ideally suited for sealing traffic loop detector cuts. At application temperature, Crafco Loop Detector Sealant is a thin free flowing fluid which pours easily and penetrates narrow traffic loop detector cuts. This sealant is self leveling making application fast and easy. Application use includes both asphalt and Portland Cement Concrete pavement. Cool Loop Detector Sealant is a well bonded, stiff product that resists tracking or pick-up in pedestrian and slow moving traffic areas. Can be applied using pressure feed or pour pots.

Crafco RoadSaver Silicone Sealant is a uniquely formulated low modulus non-sag sealant produced for sealing joints in Portland Cement Concrete pavements in all climates.



Crafco RoadSaver Silicone SL Sealant is a low modulus silicone which offers the performance and durability characteristics of conventional silicone with the ease of installation of self-leveling materials.



Vehicular Deck Coatings

CCW-5123 Deck Coatings System (special order) is a liquid-applied abrasion resistant waterproofing system suitable for surfaces subject to vehicular and heavy pedestrian traffic. It consists of three polyurethane components, each designed to provide specific, long lasting properties that together form a system with optimum performance. The top coat is available in nine fade-resistant colors.



CCW-5123-LO Deck Coating System (special order) is a liquid-applied, abrasion resistant waterproofing system suitable or surfaces subject to interior vehicular and heavy pedestrian traffic.

CCW MiraClay (special order) is a specially constructed, bentonite clay, below-grade foundation waterproofing system. The CCW Miraclay geotextile panel consists of sodium bentonite clay sandwiched between two layers of woven and non-woven, puncture resistant polypropylene fabric. It is designed to provide waterproofing for below-grade foundation walls or beneath floor slabs.


Bituminous Damp Proofing / Waterproofing Emulsions

Concrete Walls


SEALMASTIC (special order) emulsion-type damp proofing is a breather-type which permits moisture vapor to escape through the film, while remaining resistant to water penetration. This prevents blistering of applied films. The product can be applied to green concrete (not totally dry).


TYPE I (spray-grade) is an asphalt-based, non-fibered, clay emulsion. Under normal use, it resists flow or sag. Its greater resistance to water is ideal where spray application is desired.


TYPE II (brush-on/spray-grade) is an asphalt-based, clay emulsion with fibers specifically formulated to offer a tight film that combines both excellent strength and resistance to water.


TYPE III (trowel-on grade) is a trowel-applied mineral colloid, asphalt emulsion, fibrated with selected fibers and produced in an ideal, light trowel application consistency. TYPE III offers high weather, water, corrosion and abrasion resistance. It can be used as an adhesive on foam board installations.


Concrete Vapor Barriers

Vapor barriers should be placed under all concrete floors on ground that is likely to receive an impermeable floor finish or be used for any purpose where the passage of water vapor through the floor is undesirable.

Concrete Vapor Retarders

A vapor retarder is a specially treated paper, thin plastic sheeting, or low-permeance paint that prevents condensation of water vapor inside wall or ceiling materials. This trapped moisture can cause damage to the wallboard and paint as well as structural deterioration. The vapor retarder must have a vapor permeance (the rate that moisture can pass through materials) of not more than 1.0 perm (tested in accordance with ASTM Standard E96-80). The term "vapor barrier", which is also commonly used, is somewhat misleading since it does not completely bar the transmission of water vapor. A vapor barrier is actually a vapor-resistant membrane, and is more properly called a "vapor retarder."


Location of Vapor Retarder
Interior moisture tries to move out of a building. Vapor retarders are important, because they keep this moisture in a warm area where it will not condense. For this reason, vapor retarders should be applied (in colder climates) behind the drywall of a wall or ceiling next to existing insulation and on the warm-in-winter side (between the insulation and the conditioned space) of insulated floor sections over crawl spaces.


Caution: Because moisture may be trapped between the two vapor retarders and eventually ruin the installation, if additional insulation is added during your remodeling project, be sure that a second vapor retarder is not applied between layers of insulation. There is a chance that this second vapor retarder might be added inadvertently during an insulation upgrade, because some batt insulation comes with a vapor retarder integrally attached in the form of paper or aluminum-like sheeting.

Meadow-Coat (special order) easy to use single component, polymer modified, cementitious coating, designed to waterproof and protect both interior and exterior vertical concrete surfaces.


Meadow-coat has limited resistance to hydrostatic pressure when cured, and is suitable for use in water retaining structures, basements, fountains, retaining walls and floor slabs. It may also be used on bridges, parking structures, building facades and other concrete structures.


Cem-Kote CW Plus (special order) crystalline (capillary) in-depth waterproofing for new or existing water storage and water treatment concrete structures, digesters, clarifiers and utility vaults. Cem-Kote CW Plus is suitable for waterproofing for retaining walls, basements, concrete slabs, swimming pools and other concrete structures.


Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield (special order) ready-to-use, water-based latex coating that forms an impermeable water barrier on interior and exterior concrete and masonry surfaces. The ultra smooth, bright white finish is easy to apply with a roller or brush and is backed by a Rust-Oleum's 10-year waterproof and 5-year mold and mildew resistant paint film guarantee. This low odor, environmentally friendly formula is ideal for use on basements and can be easily cleaned up with soap and water.


Vulkem Under Tile Waterproofing System (special order) durable waterproofing coating, composed of tough-curing liquid polyurethane rubber. The Vulkem Under Tile Waterproofing System cures to form a seamless elastomeric rubber membrane system that is waterproof, durable and, when installed per Tremco's recommendations, meets all TCA guidelines.


Dow BLUEGUARD™ Blueboard

STYROFOAM™ extruded polystyrene and polyisocyanurate insulations from Dow help manage energy loss and moisture, two of the most costly issues facing homeowners today.

Fluid Applied Waterproofing


CCW-525 (special order) is a liquid-applied, single component, moisture cured, elastomeric, coal-tar free, modified polyurethane which cures to form a flexible, monolithic, waterproof membrane on vertical or horizontal surfaces, above or below grade. The membrane has tenacious adhesion to concrete substrates preventing lateral water migration.


Carlisle CCW-703 Liquiseal (special order) liquid applied membrane is a two-component polyurethane waterproofing system. It is self-curing, forming a seamless, impermeable coating which bonds tightly to an appropriate substrate, preventing the lateral transfer of water. Liquiseal is easily mixed at the job site and applied using a squeegee, trowel or spray equipment, providing a waterproof rubber membrane. Typical applications are between structural slab and wearing course of parking garages, plaza decks, balconies, roof decks, terraces, mechanical rooms, fountains, kitchens, wet rooms, malls and shower stalls. It is also ideally suited to sealing below grade foundation walls where a seamless, elastomeric waterproofing is required.


Water Repellants


Protectosil® CHEM-TRETE® 40 VOC (special order)
Water Repellent
Clear, penetrating, breathable water repellent for use on exterior above-grade concrete, brick masonry, concrete masonry units and some natural stones. It penetrates the surface and bonds chemically to the substrate, resulting in permanent attachment of the water repellent molecule. Chem-trete 40 VOC is not a coating and as a result will not discolor or change the surface appearance in any way.


Protectosil® CHEM-TRETE® PB VOC Isobutyltrialkoxysilane With Activator (special order)
High performance water repellent for porous substrates. A clear, penetrating, breathable water repellent for use on concrete, brick, concrete masonry units, and some natural stones. Prevents water and water-borne contaminants from entering the substrate and causing premature deterioration.


Sheet Applied Membranes


Miradrain, Miradri & Miradrain 6000/6200 high-flow, high-compressive strength, vertical single-sided subsurface drainage applications. CCW MiraDRAIN 6200 is designed for use over MiraDRI Waterproofing Membranes. The high-strength polymeric film adhered to the flat side of the drainage core protects the waterproofing membrane from potential die cutting.


TerraDrain 121 has a membrane backing compatible with soft waterproofing systems.



Pre-Molded Membrane Vapor Seal with Plasmatic Core (PMPC) (special order)

Seven-ply, weather-coated, permanently bonded, semi-flexible bituminous core board. It is composed of a homogeneous, high-melt point bituminous material, in combination with an exclusive plasmatic core, suspended mid-point in the bituminous core. This core is sealed under heat and pressure between liners of asphalt-impregnated felt and a glass mat liner. An asphalt weather coat is applied to the glass-mat liner and covered with a polyethylene anti-stick sheet.


Paraseal (special order)

Dual sheet membrane of tough, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and expandable, granular bentonite forming a superior dual-waterproofing system for horizontal & vertical surfaces.


Paraseal is a waterproofing membrane designed for use on structures above and below grade. It is excellent for use on split slab parking, plaza decks, poured and block foundation walls and earth covered roofs. It has outstanding performance when used under conditions of high water head and installed prior to the concrete pour such as retaining walls, elevator pits, etc.


CCW MiraDRI/Miradrain (IN STOCK) waterproofing system is designed to provide waterproofing protection for below grade foundation walls, slabs, parking decks, plaza decks, tunnels and many other interior and exterior applications. The CCW MiraDRI waterproofing system consists of the self-adhering membrane, an environmentally friendly water based primer for surface preparation; a liquid membrane for detailing; and mastic to seal termination points.


Mel-Rol XLT (special order) is a flexible, versatile, dependable, roll-type waterproofing membrane ideal for application in extra-low temperatures down to 0° F (-18° C). All components of the MEL-ROL waterproofing system work together to provide a cost-effective, positive waterproofing system that's quick and easy to apply.


Mel-Drain™ (special order) is a dimple-raised, molded polystyrene sheet bonded to high strength polypropylene fabric. This geo-composite allows the passage of moisture through the fabric while preventing fine soils from entering the drainage channel. Various drain designs are available, depending on soil pressure and flow specifications. (An optional polyester backing film is available when used in conjunction with flexible waterproofing material.) The family of Mel-Drain products provides excellent protection in vertical, horizontal and site applications.

Sonoshield HLM 5000 Liquid Cold-Applied Waterproofing Membrane System HLM 5000 (special order) Single component bitumen-modified moisture curing polyurethane. HLM 5000 protects structures from water penetration while remaining flexible to handle the nominal expansion and contraction of substrates.


HLM 5000 is recommended for waterproofing exterior below grade concrete and between concrete slab applications.


Mel-Rol LM (All Season) (special order) Single component, polymer modified, cold-applied, liquid waterproofing membrane ideal for below-grade vertical applications. We have taken the same high quality rubber polymers found in Meadows' successful Mel-Rol "peel and stick" membrane, and converted them into a heavy-bodied, high-solid, quick drying liquid membrane. With Mel-Rol LM (All-Season), installation time is reduced, utilizing either a spray or roller application.
